Adventures with Threading

I wonder if this is my topic of the week... ;)

Anyway, after Tuesday's post, I decided to take the plunge yesterday and get my eyebrows threaded. I called up Indian threading guru Rhamba and scheduled an appointment right away! Fortunately, the place we looked up was a short 15-minute drive from my house.

When I arrived, Rhamba had me lay down on a bed, wiped down my brows, and went to work with the cotton threads. It didn't hurt much at first, but after my skin became more sensitive, I was feeling it more. Since I haven't had my brows done in over six months, there was quite a bit to take care of. I'd say the general pain factor is a notch or two above waxing, but nothing unbearable.

Overall, the appointment took about 10-15 minutes. After, my sensitive skin was very pink, but it subsided in about an hour.

The results? I love them! Rhamba made my brows a little thinner than I'd normally like, but it was my fault for not specifying thickness - I decided to let her decide, since it was my first time.

Here's an after shot of one of my brows... I'm so excited that they look decent again! Who knew my brows had any arch?

My threading experience cost me a mere $12 before gratuity, an amazing price considering what other places charge for threading and waxing around here. If you can find a good technician, this is a great, cheaper, more effective alternative to waxing. I'll gladly go back in a few weeks!

Now to work on my filling techniques :)

That's awesome! I'm glad you liked your experience. Usually when I get my brows threaded, I ask for a clean up or follow my natural arch. Now you have an arch and a guideline for plucking. I'm switched to threading and would never go back! However, whenever I get my brows threaded, they always ask if I want to get my upper lip threaded as well...I wouldn't, because I don't think I can stand the pain.

I recently got my eyebrows threaded for the first time too. I loved, loved, loved it. I have always been a waxer but now I will never go back. My eyebrows have such a better shape now! And the $10 before tip is the same as my waxing price. I didn't think it hurt as bad either. The woman that did mine said that it hurts less on light haired people (I'm blonde) because our hair shaft is thinner. It didn't hurt much while she was doing it at all but afterwards I was a tiny bit sore. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Great blog, BTW. I just started mine a couple of weeks ago trying to get it off the ground. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Please check it out! :)

I was always nervous to thread -- thinking that it would seriously hurt. But your brows look amazing! :)
