EOTD: Smoky Eye Look

Today I'm showcasing one of my first attempt at a "smoky eye look," on a budget! This was inspired partly by the gorgeous smoky eye tutorial posted on Pursebuzz.com a few weeks ago. Since I don't have NARS and MAC shadows at hand, I decided to try achieving a similar look using what I own. I definitely think it's possible to create great looks using budget makeup! ...Just not by my own hands. ;)

On Eyes:
All ULTA unless otherwise noted

Iceland (shimmer white)
Platinum (shimmer light gray)
Peacock (shimmer medium gray)
Galaxy (sparkle black)
CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara
L'Oreal HIP Color Truth Eyeliner in Black
Physician's Formula EyeBrightener Liner in Metallic Black
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

If only I had a place to wear a look like this! So dramatic!

I know, it doesn't exactly look great on my oddly shaped blue eyes... but I'll keep working on improving it. :) Unfortunately I still have the worst eyebrows in the world. I blame my blond roots!

Please tell me what you think, share your tips, etc. Someday I'll be better at this makeup thing, I swear :P

For now, back to the makeup case...

This looks a lot better than the one I did...haha. For brows, have you ever tried getting them threaded? you can get them threaded once so you will have a guideline of how to pluck them on your own.

Askmewhats: I do, too!! I hope I can perfect it someday :)

Fabu-less: I loved yours though, I hope you can get some better pictures soon! Thanks :) I've heard of threading... while it sounds scary, I wouldn't mind trying, but I'm having a hard time finding somewhere in my area that does it! Thanks for the suggestion though, I need to do something either way :P Ugh ugh.

Hi! I know this post is a few months old now, but I JUST found your blog (and I'm loving it!) so I'm getting caught up on as many entries as I can now! Anyway... I noticed you asked for tips, so I thought I'd share a couple. Take them with a grain of salt, though, because nothing drives me more crazy than when people try to dictate what others' makeup "should" look like! So... with that said :) The main thing I would suggest is not taking the pale shimmer right up to the eyebrow, or if you want to do shimmer up high like that, maybe try something a little less stark (like a shimmery colour that matches your skin tone, or an irridescent off-white colour). Also, I could be wrong, but the pics make it look like there might be a little bit of shimmer/glitter fallout beneath the eye... if that's something you want to avoid, try doing your eye makeup before your foundation/concealer/whatever combination thereof you prefer, or use a piece of scotch tape to pick up any unwanted sparkly bits. Incidentally, your liner here looks fantastic, and the silvery colour on the inner-v area looks great with your eye colour!
