I've heard some good things about Lumene, a CVS-exclusive cosmetics brand. And since I'm crazy about lip care products, I decided to check out the Lumene Dream Lips Age-Defying Lip Care.
This lip cream comes in an unmistakable blue tube that I love to carry in my purse. The price seemed more or less reasonable for the amount of product given - more than many other lip treatments - and it even offers some sun protection.
Product Description: "The nurturing lip care protects the sensitive skin of the lips against sun, frost and wind. Soothes chapped lips and keeps them soft. UVA/UVB –protection helps to protect lips against the harmful effects of UV-radiation. Dermatologically tested. Effect: Irresistibly smooth lips!"
Price: $4.99/.5 oz
Other: Contains petrolatum and parabens.
Results: This lip product is, as it says, mostly a conditioning cream to keep lips soft and moisturized. It has a light, almost fruity scent that makes it pleasant to wear.Be careful not to apply too much - the cream is a little opaque, so for pigmented lips, they can end up looking pale! If you apply just the right amount, it gives a very light, glossy sheen that can neutralize the look of pigmented lips slightly.
The feel of the product is light and slightly oily - not greasy - and the texture is silky. I found my lips felt softer and more hydrated after wearing for a while, but there are definitely a few problems: longevity and intensity.
You'll have to reapply frequently if you even THINK about drinking, eating, talking a lot... you get my point. I was reaching back into my bag every 30 minutes or so. Personally, I prefer something longer-lasting.
Next, this is not a very effective treatment for very dry, chapped lips, or for anyone seeking intensive protection. The formula simply isn't very strong, and since it doesn't stay well, will not work miracles on damaged lips.
The SPF 4 is a nice addition, but a stronger SPF would be better. I believe this is the only "age-defying" aspect of the product, so the title can be misleading.
In short, it's a fairly nice lip cream for keeping lips soft and smooth - if they're in good condition to begin with. Since I need something a little stronger, though, I don't think I'll be buying again, especially for the price. This is not to say that I won't buy from Lumene in the future, though!
You will like this product if: Your lips are rarely chapped, you're looking for a lip product with an SPF, you want shine without a thick, sticky gloss
You won't like this product if: You don't like oily lip products, you have very dry, chapped lips, you don't use products with parabens or petrolatum

I love this product! I feel it is easy to apply and leaves my lips feeling conditioned and protected, and the look when worn alone is so natural and pretty! But I also like to layer a light colored, shimmery gloss(like my favorite!-Neutrogena Moistureshine in DIZZY) over it...it makes your gloss go farther and will dilute the pigment in the gloss ever s slightly to accent a naturally polished look thats not overdone. I reach for this product alot, so its one of my basic favorites:)
