Review: Softlips

While the Softlips brand has been around for years, I'll admit I'm a newcomer. By now, though, I feel like I've tried nearly every lip balm on the market - especially budget items. Being so picky about my lip products, I wasn't sure I'd like Softlips at first, but after I had the chance to actually try it, the brand grew on me fast!

A combination of convenient packaging, moisturizing ingredients, high SPF, and great scents make this lip balm an awesome catch!

Want to take care of your lips and your wallet? Continue reading for my rave review of Softlips Lip Protectant/Sunscreen SPF 20!

Product Description:
Smooth glide-on formula moisturizes and provides lips with SPF protection from harmful UV rays to help keep them soft and healthy.

Price: $3.69 (look for value packs of two!)

Review: First, the price of this product is great - a little over $3 in most places, which is an especially good value when you can find the value packs of two. Each lip balm is essentially under $2! You can't get much more budget-friendly than that.

One unique thing about Softlips is the great packaging. Each balm comes in a slim, long tube that can fit just about anywhere, and is much less bulky than traditional lip balm tubes. While the Softlips tube might not permit as much product as its regular counterparts, the value is good enough to dismiss this, in my opinion.

Some people may have a problem with one of the ingredients, menthol. I know a few people will want to stay far away from this ingredient, which provides a cooling, tingling sensation. Just a small warning for those who are bothered by menthol. ;)

I love how smoothly the product glides on, and leaves my lips slick and soft. It has a good number of moisturizing oils, which work to condition for hours. I find myself reapplying often, but I think part of the problem is that I'm prone to licking off my lip balm!

Of course, the fact that Softlips has such great scents doesn't really help my little problem. Available in cherry, vanilla, strawberry, and raspberry with green tea, you're sure to find a variety you love!

The balms are clear, so they won't deposit any color onto your skin. However, if you're looking for a touch of tint and beautiful shimmer, try the Tinted Lip Conditioners! Three colors are available in this line: rose, bronze, and pearl.

Another great feature is the SPF included in every lip balm. The SPF 20 (15 in the tinted lip conditioners) is higher than what you'll find in most face creams! And for good reason, too - our lips are just as sensitive to the sun as the rest of our skin, but often get overlooked. Softlips gives you the perfect way to protect your lips year-round.

Overall, I'm not usually one to be impressed by budget lip balms - but Softlips has changed my mind! Now I keep one handy everywhere - my purse, by my bed, in the bathroom...

I actually bought this the other day for about $5 CDN, it's an okay balm, a thin applying balm, nice smell [I got vanilla] and slim packaging, but I found it doesn't really do anything for my lips as for making them softer, and I also found myself reapply frequently, and it seemed to dry out my lips, so I'm going to stick to vaseline. I'm glad you like it though! (:

Phyrra - Glad you like them, too! :)

Jasmine - I agree it's not really an "intense" lip balm. If your lips are really chapped, it might not do much for them. I found it's pretty good for everyday use, though, and it helps a lot when I wear it overnight. :)
