Happy Chinese New Year!
Happy Chinese New Year!! Wishing you all luck and good fortune in the Year of the Ox!
Did you partake in any festivities today? I wish I could eat some Chinese food! ;)
Cosmetics Settlement
If you haven't already heard, as part of a class action settlement, several companies are giving away $175 million dollars worth of free cosmetics!
Here's the catch, though - each customer can only choose from a small selection of products, based on which store they go to, and the amount each person receives will only be equal to $25. We're talking sample sizes, ladies.
If you want to brave the crowds and lines and still want in on the action, make sure you visit the settlement website for all the important details. Basically, if you purchased cosmetics from a department store between 1994 and 2003, you're eligible. But here's a secret - no one's checking for proof. ;)
Enjoy, and if you go, let me know what you picked up!
20% Off at ULTA + $20 Haircut
Several exclusions apply, so make sure to check those out first.
Also, get a $20 haircut at the Salon at ULTA - a $40 value! See your participating ULTA for details.
Happy shopping!
MAC Free Shipping
MAC is swimming in deals and discounts lately, isn't it? Tons of sales and discounts - and now, again, free shipping!
For two days only, today and tomorrow, MAC's website is offering free shipping on ANY purchase. Just enter code 2DAY at checkout and free standard shipping is yours!
Enjoy! :)

Review: Softlips
While the Softlips brand has been around for years, I'll admit I'm a newcomer. By now, though, I feel like I've tried nearly every lip balm on the market - especially budget items. Being so picky about my lip products, I wasn't sure I'd like Softlips at first, but after I had the chance to actually try it, the brand grew on me fast!
Product Description: Smooth glide-on formula moisturizes and provides lips with SPF protection from harmful UV rays to help keep them soft and healthy.
Some people may have a problem with one of the ingredients, menthol. I know a few people will want to stay far away from this ingredient, which provides a cooling, tingling sensation. Just a small warning for those who are bothered by menthol. ;)The balms are clear, so they won't deposit any color onto your skin. However, if you're looking for a touch of tint and beautiful shimmer, try the Tinted Lip Conditioners! Three colors are available in this line: rose, bronze, and pearl.
Another great feature is the SPF included in every lip balm. The SPF 20 (15 in the tinted lip conditioners) is higher than what you'll find in most face creams! And for good reason, too - our lips are just as sensitive to the sun as the rest of our skin, but often get overlooked. Softlips gives you the perfect way to protect your lips year-round.
Overall, I'm not usually one to be impressed by budget lip balms - but Softlips has changed my mind! Now I keep one handy everywhere - my purse, by my bed, in the bathroom...
Check out the Softlips website for more information and great lip tips!
Rating: 4.5/5
You'll like this product if: You want a convenient, moisturizing lip balm with a great scent and high SPF
You won't like this product if: You want to stay away from menthol or petroleum
Come back Friday for a chance to win some great Softlips products for yourself! :)

Best of 2008
Over the course of 2008, I reviewed, raved, and ranted about over 35 products! Today, I've compiled my list of favorites - then ten best products I covered during 2008.
These products are considered my go-to favorites and shining stars - everything from nails to foundations to brushes to mascara. Enjoy the list!
Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-In-1 Nail Treatment, my first review of the year, also proved to be a huge favorite of mine. This nail treatment, along with its moisturizing counterpart, do it all - smooth, strengthen, grow, and shine.
Neutrogena Lip Boost Intense Moisture Therapy is an effective, soothing lip treatment that heals dry, chapped lips and adds a soft sheen for a pretty pout. It also smells and tastes delicious - so addictive!
Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets turned out to be the perfect on-the-go beauty product, reducing shine and oil throughout the day without budging makeup!
Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment stole the spot for my number one night cream. With an array of anti-aging ingredients and a formula that is creamy, wonderfully scented, and amazingly moisturizing, this treatment redefines "beauty sleep!"
Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser, while not a budget product, was one of my HG facial cleansers. It easily removed most traces of dirt, oil, and makeup in a minute or less, and left dry skin moisturized to boot!
Clean & Clear SOFT, with two great no-fuss products - the In-Shower Facial and the Day Moisturizer - left my skin clean, soft, and smooth all day, without oiliness. If only everything in life were this simple!
Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara may not have impressed some, but made me say "Wow!" After one coat, my lashes were left dark, lush, and full of volume. Loved it!
Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer was a big step outside my comfort zone, but totally worth it! This 100% natural, organic tinted moisturizer had a great scent and blended beautifully into my fair skin.
ecoTOOLS Brushes were easily my favorite brush discovery of the year! These high-quality, low-cost tools are made from all recycled, renewable materials, making them very eco-friendly and allowing us budget girls to enjoy quality brushes for less.
CoverGirl CG Smoothers AquaSmooth Compact Foundation, with new AquaCurrent technology, was one of my favorite foundations of 2008. With a solid-to-liquid-to-powder formula, it provided great coverage while allowing my skin to breathe and drawing in moisture.
Here's to another great year of beauty products!
