Guest Review: Burt's Bees Hand Salve and Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme
Today's review comes straight from the BBB Boyfriend! After noticing his dry, cracked, rough man-hands for months, I encouraged him to try some products I thought might help. Much to my surprise, he did... and liked them!
Check out my boyfriend's review of Burt's Bees Hand Salve and Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme!
"My problem is with my hands; I sometimes have small patches of rough, dry skin, and I almost always have peeling around my cuticles. My girlfriend recommended I try the cuticle cream and hand salve, and I found them both to be good at keeping my skin smooth and moisturized.
The hand salve is made with beeswax and a variety of oils designed to nourish dry or rough skin. I found that for non-severe dryness or roughness, the salve works wonders, and almost instantly helps to moisturize the rough patches. The salve absorbs quickly, which is good, but it doesn't seem to provide a long-lasting effect for very dry or cracked skin. The rosemary, lavender, and eucalyptus oils create a nice scent, and overall I think the hand salve is great at caring for the occasional patch of dry skin.
The cuticle cream seemed to help me much more; it gives me longer-lasting moisture for dry cuticles, and helps even when my skin is peeling or cracking. The cream stays on my hands longer, and feels less oily than the hand salve, which I like. The fresh lemon scent is a plus, too, and will leave your hands feeling and smelling wonderful.
Both products are great at what they do; the hand salve treats minor dryness and the oils penetrate into your skin to smooth and moisturize, and the cuticle cream leaves the area around your nails soft for a long time, taking care of any roughness you might have."
So there you have it! Burt's Bees Hand Salve and Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme are strong enough for this "rugged desert man." (He wanted to make sure he still sounded manly while reviewing beauty products.)
You can pick up both products at your local drugstore for $6-9 each.

Get Gams Beach-Ready with Gillette Venus Embrace
While I've got summer on the brain (it's going to hit 104° next week), I thought I'd share yet another of my budget beauty essentials: a great razor for smooth, touchable legs! Fortunately, I've found one that fits my needs... the Gillette Venus.
I've actually been using this razor for years, starting with the original aqua blue model. Back then, it featured three blades and a unique, curve-fitting design and protective cushions for a nick-free shave.
Enter the Venus Embrace, big sister of the original Venus. The blade count has now been upgraded to five for an even closer shave, it's available in new, eye-catching colors, and features two ribbons of moisture for softer skin than ever before!
Better yet, its soft grip handle makes shaving easy and safe while the unique contour-hugging design prevents nicks and those little "oops" moments that happen around hard-to-reach and curvy areas like ankles, knees, and... well, you get the point.
The Venus Embrace also comes with a cool shower pod, which includes suction cups that let you stick it wherever your little heart desires, and an extra cartridge to store inside! (It opens up like a little shelf for your razor heads - very cute and convenient). I like this razor so much that I keep two around; one serves as back-up.
Find the Gillette Venus Embrace at mass retailers, drugstores, and beauty stores like ULTA for around $12.99.
